Offerings & Circles

Each child will create an original, illustrated story that will be compiled into a book at the end of the program. Along the way, we’ll explore character development through cartooning and bring stories to life by creating settings through landscape drawing and still-life studies.

Children will experiment with a variety of art materials and techniques, including graphite, colored pencils, markers, and watercolor. We’ll also explore the essential elements of books and storytelling, discovering how characters, settings, plots, and illustrations work together to tell a story.

As spring approaches, each child will create a three-dimensional diorama—a little bit of sculpture inspired by their original story. This hands-on project will bring their imaginary worlds to life!

By the end of the year, every child will have a unique illustrated story to contribute to our class book, celebrating their creativity, imagination, and growth as both artists and authors.

Mindfulness Art Circles offer a welcoming space to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore creativity without the pressure of creating a perfect piece of art. Through simple art practices, mindful observation, and gentle reflection, participants are invited to be present in the moment and discover the joy of the creative process.

Each gathering combines mindfulness with hands-on artmaking, using materials such as drawing, colored pencil, watercolor, collage, and nature-inspired elements. Guided prompts and creative exercises encourage self-expression, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the world around us.

No artistic experience is necessary. The emphasis is on exploration rather than outcome, allowing each person to work at their own pace in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.

Come as you are, bring an open mind, and discover how making art can become a meaningful practice in mindfulness, self-discovery, and everyday life.

Colored pencil is a simple, convenient, and versatile medium, ideal for everything from quick sketches to detailed, fully rendered artwork.

This program begins with an introductory class in which students will explore the medium’s versatility and gain hands-on experience with basic materials and techniques. Additional workshops will introduce and develop a variety of colored pencil techniques for depicting natural and man-made textures, building depth, and creating detail.

Students who wish to further develop their skills can also explore colored pencil painting, a process that combines these techniques to create richly layered, finished works of art.
